Apart from doing realistic social portraits in oils and pastels, Douët does interpretive or interior portraits of persons desiring this depth. Prior to painting a portrait, Douët "gets to know" the client by conversing and meditating to achieve a state of heightened awareness. He stills his conscious mind and enters the inner space in Being, "listening" to impressions from Spirit or the angels. Depending on client preference, portraits may be realistic or interpretive "soul portraits." He says that each soul portrait is "a visual poem of a person." Contemporary pastel, charcoal and oil paintings reflect impressions from Douët's soul or higher Self. Douët conveys through color and image something of the depth and meaning of the great Life within all things.
